The 4th of July is here. And more than just a patriotic celebration of our nation’s independence, it’s also a time for some uniquely American DIY decor for the vibrant holiday. Sometimes the decor that works out the best is the stuff you made from the heart. So here are just a few ideas for Independence day home decorations that won’t take you four score and thirty years to complete.
Personalized Patriotic Planter
You don’t have to spend a lot of time or money on this one. Just get basic white, red, and blue paints and paint them on a planter. Feel free to unleash your creative side and really go with the color patterns that best fit your pot. Some go for a stylized star feel, and some go for an old fashioned flag look. Whatever works best for you. Afterwards you can still use the planter as a modern testament to your personal patriotism. Alternatively you can just paint it again to match your home, backyard colors, or the season.
DIY 3D Star Garland
Here’s another idea that doesn’t take too much time. Just take some 3D stars, preferably red, white, and blue, but really any color can get the point across. A 3D star garland only requires the stars, some string, and some of your time. Just punch some holes in the stars and thread the string through. It’s an instant decor hit, and goes well with any party, it’s not even limited to 4th of July celebrations. Be sure to hang it over the snacks.
Create your own Festive Patriotic Wreath!
Here’s a fun 4th of July project that really leaves a lot of the creativity and style to you. Aside from red, white, and blue, what are your favorite colors to work with? What are your favorite materials to use? There’s no wrong way to make a wreath for your home and for the country. You can try it with paper cones, felt, yarn, wood, paper, or burlap. You name it, you can make a wreath out of it. The possibilities are endless, and entirely up to you and the craft materials you have available to you. Hang it on your front door or in the backyard for a crafty, patriotic statement.
This independence day, go all out with the decor. Whatever best suits your needs and fits your home’s style, make the best out of it. Then relax with fireworks and sparklers, burgers and beer. The 4th of July is here and it’s time to celebrate our independence. Be sure to have a drink for the veterans.
