I really like the idea of making seasonal bucket lists - breaking goals down by season makes them easier to accomplish. Rather than feeling overwhelmed with an year-long list, the seasonal stuff allows us to do more of the things that we really want to do.
Sometimes, when you stop to think about your yearly goals, you end up not considering that unplanned situations happen and that people change (and you might even change your mind about those goals and wishes halfway through the year). So,instead of writing up a bucket list for the year (or your life), why not start with seasonal bucket lists? That way you can reinforce your goals each season, and you can also add some self-care and family activities to make life better.
Here are our top picks to add to your fall bucket list!
"Delicious autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns." - George Eliot
Decorate Your Porch
There’s not a doubt in my mind that decorating the porch really makes it feel like the season has come. That’s why it’s one of the first things we do whenever the season comes, and there’s no porch that says “cozy home” like a fall porch.
Pumpkin Farm Visit
Whether you’ve gone once before or if you’ve never ever been to a pumpkin farm, fall is the season to check this off your bucket list. Even better, most pumpkin farms also provide a couple of different activities along with the visit, such as hay rides and food markets. Your whole family will love it!
Movie Night
Movie night will be really special if you invest in a media room for your home, and we’ve already mentioned this room as one of the things in your home that’s worth spending your money on. Invite friends over to watch a movie, or a show you all like. Bonus points if it’s Hocus Pocus or another Halloween-themed movie! It’s a great way to relax and unwind!
Bake Pumpkin Bread for Your Neighbor
One of the reasons why we’re adding this to the list is because baking this bread will add a wonderful fall scent to your home. Plus, acts of kindness are becoming rarer each day that goes by, which is one more reason why we’ve added this here. Spread the love, people!
Corn Maze
Getting in a corn maze and trying to get out is quite an adventure. This will be a super special time for everyone - even more so if there are kids in the family. There are actually pumpkin farms that already have corn mazes inside as well, but you can also find a local corn maze to make it easier for you to plan the visit!
Pumpkin Carving
Well, obviously this would be here. How can you go an entire fall without trying to carve a pumpkin? I don’t accept it. You simply need to give it a shot! That’s why we’ve already written about how to carve a pumpkin and also gathered a lot of fun and unique ideas to take it to the next level.
Of course, if you’re cringing about this idea, start with a simplified version: paint a pumpkin! And I won’t take no for an answer, okay? Let me know how it went!
DIY Halloween Costumes
Halloween is one of the biggest holidays in our country, and to make it even better, you can find some super cool and fun costumes ideas to DIY at home. Here are a handful to give you some inspiration:
- Rosie the Riveter
- Error 404: Costume Not Found
- Alice in Wonderland
- The Rabbit from Alice in Wonderland
- Danny Zucko from Grease
Apple Picking
Apple picking is just too relaxing and too fun to not do it every single year. Even if you’ve already crossed this off your yearly (or lifetime) bucket list, there’s no rule saying you can’t add it to your seasonal bucket list to do again! There’s nothing like getting in touch with nature, right? You’ll just need to look for the best and nearest place for you to go with your family.
Bake With Apples
Not only apple picking, but cooking with apples is a great way to enjoy this time of the year. Fall isn’t all about the pumpkin spice, guys. There are many drinks, cakes, pies that are made from apples. There are so many options you can go with. In addition, your home will be filled with the greatest fall scents ever!
