Kids usually get a bit crazy around Halloween time (also on Christmas, and on their birthdays, and…oh boy!), and honestly I can’t really tell why. I mean, they’re kids, kids do get excited by every little thing - maybe we grown ups could learn a thing or two from them and enjoy the little things as well, huh?

Anyways,

Let’s carry on! Halloween is a time to trick or treat and eat lots of candy, but it’s also the perfect opportunity to create an even more special bond with your children while crafting together! Especially on a rainy fall day, drinking some hot cocoa...doesn’t that sounds lovely? Then check out these ideas and get ready to craft!

Homemade Slime

Slime sounds somewhat hard to make yourself at home, right? Well, let me tell you: it’s not! You just need the right ingredients and a bit of patience. The ingredients needed are:

  • 1 bottle (6 oz) of glue (for the ghost)
  • 1 bottle (6 oz) of glue + orange food coloring (for the Jack O’ Lantern)
  • 1 bottle (6 oz) of glitter green glue (for Frankenstein’s monster)
  • ½ tablespoon baking soda (for each slime)
  • 1 + ½ tablespoon contact lens solution (for each slime)

Then you can get a couple more things to decorate them! Such as the googly eyes and the black felt. You can also be really creative and create other monsters and creatures, use different colors, and so on!

Paper Witch

This witch looks super adorable and I love it! She’s a good witch, too, which is a great segue to teach children about being responsible with their powers. And it’s really easy for the kids to put this together, as long as you’re cautious about where the scissors are at all times.

You don’t necessarily need to follow this pattern (as shown in the picture), but you do need:

  • Cardstock (the ones used here are black, tan, brown, and green)
  • Construction paper (here they used orange)
  • Googly eyes
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Stapler (optional)

Party Poppers

There are many party popper DIYs rolling around the internet - for Easter, birthdays, the 4th of July, and so on. But none of them are as cute as these Halloween ones! You’ll just need paper tubes, tissue paper, pipe cleaners, googly eyes, a glue stick, and a couple of small toys or pieces of candy. They look so awesome and are the easiest to put together!

Haunted House

Do you remember being a kid and fascinated with haunted houses? At least that’s my memory of it. If you’re like me, then this DIY will get you super excited to call the kids and start crafting! One thing’s for sure: the kids will love eating all the popsicles to get the amount of sticks needed for this craft.

More than that, you’ll also need to have:

  • Glue gun and stick
  • Scissors
  • Paint
  • Halloween decorations (which you can make with colored cardstock too)

Spider Web

This craft is great if your kids get easily bored. This will be really quick to prepare and it’s really fun to hang them around the house. This particular craft idea is made from black trash bags cut out with scissors. So simple, right?
