With the holiday approaching so fast, most of us can’t find the time to properly decorate the house, make a DIY costume, or have the patience to follow a recipe correctly for homemade treats. With everything done in a hurry, somehow we end up making the most amazing fails ever, that even though it feels like a tragedy when it happens, later we end up peeing ourselves from laughing about it so much. To avoid the most famous fails that can happen this halloween, here is a fun compilation of things you need to avoid this fall.

Cute But Crying Baby

Dressing up your baby for Halloween may seem like an Instagram-worthy idea, but the reality is usually has a lot more tears.

It looks so cute when done right, but trying to make this famous Pinterest-worthy picture may be too much for the baby, distressing and maybe even making he/she cry, resulting in a crying baby pic that only the parents will find cute. Unless, of course, you have a wonderfully quiet and calm baby, which is incredibly rare (and makes the rest of the parents in the world incredibly envious).

Mummy Pets

Your pets don't know what Halloween is. Stop trying to turn them into mummies. Otherwise you'll get toilet paper shredded all around your home.

Even though it looks great on Pinterest and Instagram, mummifying your pets by wrapping them in toilet paper may not be the best pet costume to choose, because it usually lasts half a second before they snap out running, biting the paper and leaving the pieces scattered around the house.

Pumpkin Attacked

Squirrels love pumpkins. To keep them away from your decorations, scatter some seeds nearby so they'll go after those instead of your pumpkins.

Stacking pumpkins on the porch is one of the easiest and most popular decoration this time of the year, and the squirrels certainly approve of them, quickly mauling and munching on them. A squirrel has to eat too! You can put some seeds nearby and hopefully they’ll find those tempting enough and not eat your pumpkins. Or put some vaseline inside the pumpkins, so they sniff it and walk away.

Hidden Candy Fail

When choosing the place to hide the candies in the house, make sure it’s a spot that you will remember later and let your partner know where it is, especially when it’s in a place like the oven, so the person doesn’t accidentally turn it on not knowing the candies are inside.

Long Lost Decorations

Halloween is only once a year and often those decorations we save can get buried under a lot of random boxes on the closet or get forgotten on the dusty attic. Having to go through all those boxes to look for the decor when we don’t even know where to start is already a fail in itself.

Kitty Costumes

Cats don't enjoy dressing up like we do.

We have to accept that cats do not like to be dressed up, even though they look super cute. Let’s just avoid a guaranteed fail here.

Pup Costumes

For cats it’s a definite no-no, but for certain dog breeds dressing up is ok, they look cute and usually don’t try to rip the costume off. But that does not apply for our dogs, of course. They will certainly rip the costume to pieces and scatter them around the house. Or at the very least, make a sad face just so we can’t have that cute Instagram pic. Make sure your dog feels comfy and can move around easily, and you’ll certainly get a happy dog!

Creepy Desserts

Seeing all of those delicious treats on Pinterest makes us want to bake them. Sometimes, they're above our skill levels.

Our attempts of making some cute homemade desserts and treats don’t often come out the way we want to, and end up looking like a mess, especially when we’re trying to make something out of those leftover trick or treating candies. Patience, bakers. Patience.

Jack-o-Lantern Fail

It certainly looks easy enough on the internet, but carving a pumpkin may be a hard and stressful task, that makes most of us rethink our crafting abilities and settle for a mediocre jack-o-lantern. To avoid it, check out how to carve a jack-o-lantern and make it last.

Costume Fails

Don’t make the mistake of choosing a costume that is too heavy, hard to manage or that can get easily ruined. It may look funny, but it can bring you a terrible backache the next day or make you give up on the costume half-way through the party. Inappropriate costumes are also better to avoid, especially when there are kids around.

Holiday Hospital Visits

Ending up at the hospital on Halloween? Not our idea of fun.

Avoid the excess: going too hard on the dance floor – or even on the candies – can make you go visit a (real) doctor at the emergency room.

Ultimate Halloween Fail

Getting scared by your own pranks is one of the worst (or best?) Halloween fails you can commit. But it’s ok, it means it was a really good prank. Happens to the best of us!

Halloween is one of the most fun seasons of the year, and it’s totally okay to commit fails sometimes. It happens, everybody does them and in the end we always end up laughing about it. So let’s have a fun and spooky Halloween!
