Pinnacle was recommended by a good friend. It worked out for our friends and so we had Pinnacle come to install our AC. Unfortunately, our experience was the exact opposite. These guys are not professional, they recommend sub-par AC units to make fast sales (ours broke after only 2 years - and suspiciously enough a month after the warranty expired), and their workmanship is seriously questionable. Our friends who recommended Pinnacle also had to fix their AC after a couple of years. Whatever we saved initially by hiring these guys was paid out in double as we fixed issues on our 2 year old AC. I personally wouldnt hire these guys for any air-conditioning or HVAC job in the future. I hope this review helps others be aware and to shop around before hiring Pinnacle Air Conditioning in East Northport. One star is actually being generous for the below average installation job they did. To make it worse, they had little interest in returning calls or making things right. I would recommend shopping around for reputable installers who know what they are doing so you can avoid headaches later. - Pinnacle AC guys are amateurs.
Some companies may require a 10% deposit, some may not require any. For larger projects, you'll almost always need to give a deposit, and it's good to ask how much the deposit will be before going forward with a project. The East Northport contractor will know how much they need for a deposit when they've given you the estimate, so ask early.
You'll always want to ask how long the company has been in business in East Northport. While this isn't a guarantee that the company will do good work, companies with longevity on their side must be doing something right. That being said, there are newer companies that do great work. If the company is under three years old, ask where the owner was employed before and for how long. If he/she has a long history of employment, it's reasonable to infer that he or she decided to go into business for themselves after so many years of experience.
You'll certainly want to ask them this. Steer clear of any company that is not insured in New York, because that means that any incidental damage they may do on your property will be a real hassle to recover compensation for. It is never wise to work with uninsured tradesmen of any kind. Most states also require that someone have insurance in order to be issued a trade license. If they say they're licensed but not insured, they're being less than truthful.
Many jobs in New York will require municipal permits in order to be approved by the town's inspector. It's always good to ask who will be responsible for pulling those permits, and if you'll be expected to do it. You'll almost never be told to pull your own, but knowing that East Northport Heating permits are required makes you appear to be a well informed customer.
The question is great for some industries and non-applicable for others. A general contractor, for example, will by definition employ subcontractors. Most East Northport Heating companies do not, but there are exceptions. You should always ask this question to your service providers. If they do use subcontractors, ask if they're all licensed and insured independently.
