I need to increase the vertical opening in my brick fireplace to install a electric insert. One or two rows of brick need to be removed, along with the lintel.

I have a fieldstone fireplace, the mason that did the fireplace had 2 stones sticking out from the face of the fireplace to hold a mantel. These stones are way too high in my opinion. I would like them either cut down or removed and replaced. I also need a mantel installed onto the fireplace (we have the mantel). I also need a new piece of blue stone or slate (not sure what type of stone it is) put on the hearth, as it is stained.
