Decorating a Christmas tree is one of the most fun activities preceding the holiday itself. Trees come in many different shapes and varieties, and so does the decoration. You can have a classic pine tree decorated in red and green, or a faux tree with frosty white leaves and golden ornaments – but even that is just scratching the surface.

Here are 10 incredible decoration ideas to make your Christmas as special as this incredible time of the year!

1. Flocked snow

Flocked snow is a fairly easy DIY project that will take your tree to the next level. You can go lighter on decorative ornaments, using only what’s necessary, and then let the snow shine!

2. Faux candles

Faux candles are great decorative ornaments for a Christmas tree. You can go for paper DIY candles such as these, but you can also find purchasable candle ornaments with LEDs, making it easy to set up on your tree.

Don’t forget to use candles on the rest of your Christmas decor as well, they are very useful and match the season quite well!

3. Red & White

Taking advantage of the frosty snow we’ve seen before, you can opt for a strong accent on the color red. When combined with flocked snow, it makes for a stand-out bold Christmas tree no one will forget!

4. Frosty bright

A faux tree with white branches works too, but you can also double on the flocked snow to get a similar effect on your tree if you like the way this looks.

Then, keep the colors muted in favour of warm lights, white decor and burlap bows, along with pine cones for that rustic touch!

Your gift wraps are also part of the decoration, so make them count with colors that match your tree!

5. Minimal

We tend to say more is merrier, but that’s not always the case. There’s nothing wrong with a simple, almost nude Christmas tree – it makes for something that looks closer to nature.

To get the look, opt for low intensity lights and nothing else, letting the tree speak for itself. Keep the rest of the decoration around the house just as minimal and the entire thing will come together!

6. White, blue & red

Time for something very different: a faux white pine tree decorated with nautical red and blue tones. It makes for a bright and elegant Christmas tree like no other you’ve ever seen – and once again, combine other elements of your decor (including red and blue gift wraps) to really bring the look home!

7. Skinny tree

We’ve seen lots of tall, large, luscious trees, but what about the smaller skinny ones? Well, they are just as beautiful and can work just as well as the other ones.

Decorate with your favorite ornaments and let this tree’s slender posture shine!

8. Pastels

The usual red and green became a classic for a reason, but you shouldn’t be afraid to experiment with different color combinations and patterns. For example, pastel ornaments make for a light-hearted Christmas tree that’s beautiful and incredibly unique.

9. Pinecones and gold

A simple but effective way to decorate in a classic style that doesn’t involve red and green is to make your tree into a natural-looking golden pine tree.

Decorate with pine cones, warm string lights and golden ornaments, to create this magic and elegant look. Adding more rustic elements around your tree will complete the look, like candles, burlap, twigs and brown gift wraps.

10. Tree of lights

Wall trees are great for saving space, since gifts can stay at the foot of the tree without any issues. To make this tree, attach a long light string to the wall in the shape of a Christmas tree, and then decorate with ornaments just like you would a normal tree!
