I hired Jaime Solis to paint and fix a wall for me. He assured me that he could do it and make it look like the original wall. After coming out twice the wall still was far from the original wall. he said let the paint dry and if it's not the same I'll fix it. Upon leaving he asked me out for tequila, I said that I don't drink, plus you are married. Then he took a sack that had his popcorn spray and my puddy, spatula, and paint brush. I called him a few days later as the wall did not match and was not fixed. He did not return my calls. I called 6 more times and text with no response. My mom then called from her phone , which he answered, he said he'd be out that week, that was a month ago and he never came. 2 weeks ago on a Sunday she called again, he said he be out that Tuesday. She confirmed great , Tueaday, what time. He said I don't know early! She said great, we will see you Tuesday early. He never showed. Now he will not answer either of our calls. Do not hire Jaime Solis!
Some companies may require a 10% deposit, some may not require any. For larger projects, you'll almost always need to give a deposit, and it's good to ask how much the deposit will be before going forward with a project. The Fort Worth contractor will know how much they need for a deposit when they've given you the estimate, so ask early.
This will be answered when you ask if all employees are licensed. The only way to obtain a legitimate tradesman's license is to be a legal or naturalized citizen of the US. The company may employ people in positions that don't require a license, however, so it's wise to inquire.
These first two questions should only relate to services or good purchased directly from the service provider. Many products carry their own warranties, like roofing shingles or siding. It's useful to know what these warranties cover as well as how long they last. The "warranty agent" question is important, because often warranty agents work with the manufacturer to get you repairs under warranty at a much lower price.
The question is great for some industries and non-applicable for others. A general contractor, for example, will by definition employ subcontractors. Most Fort Worth Tile Work companies do not, but there are exceptions. You should always ask this question to your service providers. If they do use subcontractors, ask if they're all licensed and insured independently.
