Personal items make the room look cozier and more welcoming. It can be something like a family photo, a travel souvenir, or a decor piece someone gave to you on a special occasion. As long as it has a personal meaning to you, it can be qualified as a personal item.

This tip may sound a bit funny, but it’s a trick lots of designers and decorators use to make decor better. Arranging objects in odd numbers, especially in sets of three, will help you achieve the perfect look and make the bookshelf more interesting.

There’s no bookshelf if there aren’t any books, right? There’s a variety of ways you can place them on your bookshelf, it’ll depend on the size of the shelf, the size of the books, how many books you have, and so on. But to get you started, here are a couple of ideas:

  • Group them by color or size
  • Place them horizontally to create a standing platform for another object
  • Place them vertically and create a focal point by varying the heights

We all love a good lighting, and adding it to your bookshelf will give it a special look. It can be a lighting fixture installed above (and in between) the shelves, like the one from the photo above.

You could find those modern lamps shaped as cactus, letters, animals, and similar, to make your shelf more modern and joyful!
