Randy O’Burke is a fraud. He will provide a bid and pretend he is licensed when his license expired in 2009. He will refuse to provide a milestone/payment schedule as part of the contract (which is illegal) and will then proceed to rob you. He will take advance payments on work not performed/materials not delivered and will then ditch ur project. He will not prioritize your project and will give you the run around and stop showing up (always an excuse- “I’m sick”. “Helping a friend move”.) He is also extremely unprofessional and rude and will throw a tantrum if you question the payment project/payment progress. He resorted to calling me and my husband names and also send several nasty texts. Run from Randy

Do you have any references that I can contact?

Always ask for references, and always check them. Keep in mind though that the only references you'll get are people who the contractor is certain will give him a good review. You'd also be well advised to check online review sources in Sunland as well, which will give you a broader view of customer satisfaction for a given company.

Are you union or non-union?

This really only matters if you have a preference, but it is good to ask. If you have a strong ideological belief about unions or nonunions, it's perfectly acceptable to make a decision based on the preference.

How long have you been in Custom Homes business for/How long have been serving the Sunland area?

You'll always want to ask how long the company has been in business in Sunland. While this isn't a guarantee that the company will do good work, companies with longevity on their side must be doing something right. That being said, there are newer companies that do great work. If the company is under three years old, ask where the owner was employed before and for how long. If he/she has a long history of employment, it's reasonable to infer that he or she decided to go into business for themselves after so many years of experience.
