WARNING: OWNER ALLOWS HIS EMPLOYEES TO STEAL FROM CLIENTS!!! DO NOT LET THEM IN YOUR HOUSE!! On Friday, May 12, 2017, my landlord hired Sy's Carpet to install carpet in my living and dining rooms. As I was moving things I placed all my knickknacks in an open box on top of the vanity/ countertop in my hallway. I started to perspire and took off my NEW PRESCRIPTION RAY BAND SUNGLASSES and carefully placed them in the open box. Thinking they'd be safe I forgot all about them. At the last minute, the hallway was approved to be recarpeted as well. I cleared anything that was on the floor but left all boxes, dog toys and magazine rack on the counter. I went to my room and watch tv during the installation. I know that contractors are bonded and insured so I didn't think I had to watch their every move. Maybe I'm too trusting but I really never thought someone would come into my home and steal my prescription sunglasses. (However they did not look like prescription so the joke is on the thief.) No one was in my home after Phillipe' and Joel, the carpet guys, left. The next morning as I was headed out to Church I noticed they were gone. I unpack the box, went through the dog toys and my magazine rack. Moved everything from the counter and realized they were missing. When I came home I searched everything 2 more times and then my complete home but they were still gone. At that time I went to the station to filed a police report. I called the owner Abe when the reopened on Monday. He was very curt and didn't seem to care at all. His response was just have the detective ask for me. Today, Wednesday Abe now says he IS NOT GOING TO REIBURSE me for my glasses and he is sure the glasses wont be returned because Phillipe or Joel will be fired if they are. The owner in flipping it on me saying, "If you knew workers were coming why didn't you put your valuable stuff away?" So I guess I am to blame for his thieving employees? AND I'M NOT THE FIRST VICTIM. A RING WAS STOLEN AND HE TOLD HER THE SAME THING! Abe refuses to file a claim with his insurance. Firstly, my hallway was NOT going to be carpeted so I didn't think Phillipe or Joel would be in that part of my home. Next ALL contrators are supposed to be BONDED and INSURED for these reasons! I honestly didn't think anything would be stolen!!! SO DISAPPOINTED! GO ELSEWHERE! NOT WORTH THE HEADACHE! I'm filing a complaint with the better business bureau, contractors board and if need be I will take him to small claims court. I'm not going away quietly.
