About this pro

Tyler Building Systems engineers and manufactures custom metal building systems. And the word custom is essential. We don't squeeze our clients into one-size-fits-all standard frame designs. We begin with your ideas about what you want your building to be. And we tailor our frame shapes, girt locations, roof slopes, and more to fit your needsrather than the opposite.

Then, your building is custom designed to fit what you wantjust like it should be.

Best Questions to Ask a Remodeler Contractor

How much do I have to give as a deposit?

Some companies may require a 10% deposit, some may not require any. For larger projects, you'll almost always need to give a deposit, and it's good to ask how much the deposit will be before going forward with a project. The Tyler contractor will know how much they need for a deposit when they've given you the estimate, so ask early.

What guarantees and/or warranties can you give me? Are you a warranty agent for any brands?

These first two questions should only relate to services or good purchased directly from the service provider. Many products carry their own warranties, like roofing shingles or siding. It's useful to know what these warranties cover as well as how long they last. The "warranty agent" question is important, because often warranty agents work with the manufacturer to get you repairs under warranty at a much lower price.

Do you work with subcontractors?

The question is great for some industries and non-applicable for others. A general contractor, for example, will by definition employ subcontractors. Most Tyler Additions and Remodels companies do not, but there are exceptions. You should always ask this question to your service providers. If they do use subcontractors, ask if they're all licensed and insured independently.

What is your projected timeline for the Additions and Remodels project in Tyler?

Though a standard question, it's important to ask. Most contractors will tell you how long they expect the job to take without you asking. If they don't volunteer that information, be sure to ask. It's also helpful to ask if that's a hard finish date, meaning that it's the definite finish date. If it's a soft finish date, it may be extended for any number of reasons.
