Bedroom has ceiling fan but no light fixture has drop chain to turn on/off. Need light fixture installed with or without fan (which ever is easiest). Would prefer it to be connected to wall light switch that presently does not appear to turn anything on or off.

I had a ceiling fan that only the light worked, the fan did not. I installed a new fan hoping that the old fan was the problem. After working for a few minutes the light started flashing and the whole fixture started turning on and off. We just bought the house, so I'd like to have this checked out. Thanks.
