Food is generally supposed to look as good as it tastes, but not during Halloween!
This time of the year we take out the chopped fingers, worm spaghetti, bloody cupcakes, and poison apples, so we can frown at them...and eat them anyway. That’s the magic of Halloween recipes: your eyes say “no,” but they’re some of the most delicious sweets you’ll ever taste.
Trust us, these recipes may not look so enticing at first, but they are all absolutely worth a shot.
Even if they do look a little scary.
Slime-ade

Don’t let the slimy look fool you - this sugary drink will impress everyone!
In fact, those jelly worms add some charm and make the drink look a little more edible and attractive. It’s very easy to do.
Glow in the dark poison

Nothing yells danger more than a drink that glows in the dark, right?
Well, this one may look like poison but it obviously tastes good, otherwise we wouldn’t be talking about it! Turn on the black lights and enjoy this unique Halloween drink.
Bloody cookies

The cookies that almost starred on the TV show Dexter, but will instead star in your next Halloween party.
Easy to make and to customize, these bloody cookies add an extra Halloween charm to your snacks!
Don’t settle just for basic round cookies - you can shape them however you like. Perhaps some ghost shaped ones could work!
Brain Jell-O shots

Perhaps we’ll finally understand why zombies like brains so much, eh?
It’s easy to make, but do note that it has vodka for that special touch - so please, eat brains only in moderation.
Now there’s something you can only say on Halloween.
Wormy worms

Eating these worms doesn’t look so bad when you find out they’re actually chopped hot dogs in black beans. And yes, those are the only two ingredients you really need for this one!
- Chop the hot dogs to look like worms
- Place black beans on a bowl to look like dirt - adding a bit of green to resemble grass adds a nice touch
- Place the wormy hot dogs on top and inside the black beans to look like worms in dirt
- Done!
Eyeballs

Once again, eyeballs dipped in blood paste? Doesn’t sound so good, does it?
Until you realize they’re actually marshmallows in hot chocolate. Really.
You just changed your mind about eating these eyes, didn’t you?
Toxic Mac and Cheese

With the exception of vegetables and fruit, most foods should NEVER look green - especially if it’s mac and cheese, right?
In this case, wrong. The green coloring here is what makes this particular mac and cheese so special - the perfect slimy Halloween recipe to both shock and impress your guests. Click here for the secret.
Zombie brain shot

Colourful, yet terrifying. This is one of those you look at and wonder…what is even in there?
That’s the fun of this exotic drink - offering it to curious friends without telling them. Let’s see who’s brave enough to try! But don’t worry, it’s entirely edible. Unleash the secrets of the brain shot here.
Jello shooter syringes

Yet another horrible looking shot: it feels like it came straight out of a crazy scientist’s secret laboratory of experiments or a vampire’s blood bank…
But it’s actually just grenadine in ginger ale.
- Serve the ginger ale cup
- Place the grenadine syringe inside
- Now guests have to release the mixture inside before drinking. Creepy fun!
Bloody cheesecake

Here we are eating blood again - edible blood, obviously!
As always, the catch is what it actually is: a cheesecake with a Halloween look over it. And a pretty elegant one too, seriously - it will take you a few hours to get this one right, but it will be the perfect scary desert to finish off your Halloween party!
