Halloween is right around the corner and we’re very excited about it! I hope you are too because this article is about Halloween decor inspiration.

This time:

DOORS!

That’s right, here are eight ideas to decorate your front door. Or really any other door you’d like, but front doors are always super fun to create something spooky to welcome (or scare away) your guests.

“It’s Halloween, everyone’s entitled to one good scare.” – Brackett, Halloween (1978)

Bat Colony

Better be ready to face lots of bat clouds on Halloween night! You can start by adding your own colony on the front door as a decor idea. Maybe along with some fake spider webs, or even some hanging lights for special effects.

Hanging Skeleton

A skeleton is a Halloween classic, you need to have it somewhere in your decor.

Some carved pumpkins along with this hanging skeleton will create a spooky entrance to your home. Who will have the courage to trick or treat at your home on Halloween night? Those brave kids will definitely deserve their candy!

Oogie Boogie

Do you remember the Oogie Boogie monster from the movie Nightmare Before Christmas? He was really the baddest villain in the movie. That’s why he deserves to get a door all for himself this Halloween. Doesn’t it look great?

Festive Garland (or Banner)

Keep it simple with a DIY garland or banner with a message. It could be:

  • Trick or treat
  • Happy Halloween
  • “Boo”
  • Turn back now
  • “Cemetery”

Or you could even get creative and find some famous Halloween movie quotes to see who will get the reference!

Witchy Door

I remember a couple of years ago when I was looking for Halloween decorating ideas and I ran across these witch legs. Back then, there weren’t as many how-tos as there are now - which can only mean these became really famous over the years.

That makes a lot of sense because they’re awesome!

There’s a variety of ways to use them as well - you could hide them in a bush, put them under the entrance rug, or hide them in a vase such as the photo above.

Ghost Door

I’ll be honest, when I was putting this post together, ghosts hadn’t crossed my mind. Weird, right? They’re like the most common Halloween theme ever!!

Still,

When I ran into this photo I thought it was just perfect for our purposes. Doesn’t it look great?

Mummy’s Here

This might take you some time to make, but it’ll be worth the trouble because it looks amazing! Plus, if it doesn’t get any rain on it, it’ll be really durable. The “no trespassing” sign gives it a little something extra too.

Decorate the Garage Door

Why not take the opportunity and decorate the garage door too? It will look really festive and I’m sure everyone will get into the holiday spirit along with you. Give it a try with something simple, like the cat, bats, and fence shadows like in the photo above.

Go the Extra Mile

And, of course, to go even further on the festive vibes, decorate EVERYTHING! Doors, windows, entrance pathway…just go for it! When you go this big, you don’t need to overthink what you’ll do, just stick to a simple decor theme (since everything will be decorated) like the shadows idea.
