Halloween is right around the corner and it’s one of the most anticipated holidays of the year. With all of the incredible decorations - both for sale and DIY - we’re having a difficult time finding the time to dive into all of them while getting our home ready for this spooky holiday. To remedy that, here’s a list of quick and easy spooky decor you can do in under 30 minutes.
Mummify Your Decor
In under 30 minutes you can easily decorate your house for the holiday by simply mummifying your objects. You can do it on small objects like candle holders or your candy bowl, or even go big and do it on your front door. You can use:
- Crepe paper streamers,
- Toilet paper,
- Or cheesecloth
- And don’t forget to add some googly eyes!
Creepy Spider Web Cover
You can easily transform the look of your decorations from normal to creepy just by adding ripped cheesecloth to it. You can use it to cover the sofa, the tables, hang it on doorways, windows, light fixtures, or even from the ceiling. The guests will be instantly spooked!
Bat Stream
Making a stream of bats is probably the easiest and coolest way to decorate your house for this Halloween, and best of all: it’s quick! You can easily make dozens of bat at one sitting and make more whenever you have a few minutes to spare. You only need black cardstock or construction paper and tape. Have some help from the kids and you’ll be able to fill a wall in no time.
Trash Bag Spider Web
If you want an interesting decor you can do with things you already have at home, this will be it: spider webs made out of trash bags. Yes! Here is an easy tutorial to follow to achieve this cool look from the pic. And of course: it’s so quick you can have it done in less than 30min (probably in less than 10, actually).
Bleeding Candles
Candles are always a great way to decorate the house, and for the Halloween it’s no different. You can use a different colored candle (red or black, preferably) and let the wax drip on the top and sides of a white one or light colored one, to add an interesting and creepy effect to it. It’s perfect for the holiday and so easy and quick to do that you just can’t pass it.
Scary Pumpkins
The most popular seasonal gourd can also be used to decorate the house for Halloween. No need to carve your pumpkin: you can use a sharpie to draw scary faces, pun-intended phrases or maybe use stickers to make different designs. You can make spooky eyes out of paper and tape it on top of a drawn toothy grin. You can basically do any design and use anything you have available at home to craft an interesting halloween decor out of pumpkins, and then stack a couple by the front door or use it as a centerpiece for the dining table.
Abandoned House Look
We are all used with seeing in old movies people entering abandoned houses that have white sheets covering the furniture. Why not get the same look for your living room? Spread out a lot of candles to add a spooky factor to it and you’ll find that this is the easiest Halloween decor idea.
Monster Door
Decorating the front door is a great way to welcome the guests and enter the spirit of Halloween. You can use store bought decal or make the designs on paper and then tape it on the door. You can use any inspiration you want, just like this Jack Skellington door above, or go with a simple toothy grin and mean eyes. It’s an easy and quick decor that will give your house just the kick it needs.
Crime Scene
A creative way to decorate your main hall or garage entrance is by making it a faux crime scene. Take 10 min to outline a person on the floor using masking tape and you could even get one of those yellow crime scene tapes to make the setting even more movie-like. It’s a great way to spook the neighbors!
Bloody Towel
Don’t forget the bathroom when you’re planning the decor. You can make this awesome towel by getting a cheap one at the dollar store and using fake blood to create the handprints. Isn’t it the best idea? Finish the decoration by adding some vamp fangs inside a glass with water, making it look like a denture jar.
Bonus Idea: Hanging Witch Hat
Get some cheap witch hats at a dollar store, hang them from the ceiling and leave a straw broom close if you have. The setting looks amazing and the family will love it!
