Picking the right type of sheets can improve your sleep in a way you’d never imagine! There are different types of fabrics that can affect your body temperature, also the way your skin reacts to each of these types will make your either more or less comfortable - which can influence on how fast you fall asleep and whether you keep waking up during the night.
After all, as the exquisite Dalai Lama would say:
“Sleep is the best meditation.”
We’re covering throughout this article some types of fabrics to help you understand better which sheet will be perfect for you, such as:
- Cotton
- Silk
- Polyester
- Flannel
So, here we go!
Polyester

As all sheets types, polyester has its ups and downs. The good things about it is that it’s inexpensive, durable, and resistant to stains.
But then comes the downside:
It’s usually scratchy when used by itself. That’s why you often find polyester mixed with other threads, like cotton. Though it can feel really nice to the touch, it’s more recommended to people who like to sleep with colder temperatures since it doesn’t breath that well.
Note: Sometimes polyester is sold as microfiber!
Flannel

Flannel is simply the utmost perfect type for cold winter nights! It’s not so common to see because it’s a really warm kind of fabric, so not many people feel comfortable with it. But if you’re easily cold and love to spend some time snuggling in bed, they’re the perfect choice for you!
Silk

We all know silk for being that fancy fabric (you know, that one you use when an important guest comes to spend the weekend or something like that), and there’s a reason for that!
Actually, there are many reasons for that:
- It’s breathable
- It’s smooth to the touch
- It can be pretty romantic (if you’re looking to create that special scenario)
- It’s naturally hypoallergenic
Of course there’s a downside too: silk is the most delicate kind, and probably the most expensive too. However, totally worth it if you’re looking to add some luxury to your home!
Cotton

Okay, so, there are many different types of cotton (categories inside a category, inception enough for you here?) and one of the most common types is Egyptian cotton. We can say each type will have its own benefits and peculiarities,
However, generally speaking we can say cotton is:
- Durable
- Soft
- Breathable
- Affordable
- Easy to clean
I guess these are good reasons to believe and understand why cotton is the most used kind of fabric to make bedding.
