As winter gets to its climax, you’re probably already feeling the winter blues around. Even though some people feel it come a bit stronger than others, there are still a couple of changes you can make to your lifestyle that will help get away from the seasonal sadness.
One of those changes is the one we’re focusing here:
Adding bright colors to your life during the season! In winter, both with decoration and wardrobe style, most people tend to focus on black, gray, and blue hues. Even though those are beautiful colors, you need to mix and match a little bit to cheer up the mood!
“Happiness is not something you postpone for the future; it is something you design for the present.” - Jim Rohn
Wardrobe

It’s important that you keep a dressing style you feel comfortable with, but how about trying to innovate in colors this year? They don’t even need to be bright colors, just lighter tones - a couple of examples are
Not only that: Even a bright nail polish or lipstick can help!
Here’s something else you can try:
Pick a brightly colored yarn and make your own arm-knit scarf! They’re easy and quick to make, plus they look gorgeous with a winter outfit!
Wall Colors

Bright colors such as yellow or cherry red are great options! Both because:
- They’re cheerful
- They’re among the big paint colors for 2018
I think that’s a double check for this choice! The coolest thing about these colors is that plants can make a gorgeous contrast. That way you'll create an even nicer ambience!
Bold Furniture

This option may be a bit harder if you’re on a tight budget, but it had to be on the list! Getting a new piece of furniture that's bold and bright might be what you need to bring some smiles into your home. A couple of ideas are:
- Couch for the living room
- Center table for the living room
- Nightstand for the master bedroom
- New bathroom cabinet
- Bench for kitchen counter
OR
Keep darker tones around to create a special contrast with an artwork and/or curtains. Like this awesome and very wintery living room:

Bright Pillows

Bright pillows are one of the simplest ways you can bring joy into your home. The simple fact of walking by the living room and glancing at a cute pillow will scare the blues away.
Even more than that:
Since they’re not so eye-catching as a couch or another piece of furniture; you can make a more elaborate decor feature! Put out the pillows to display along with some flowers (attention to the next topic), and/or scented candles (also a reason to keep reading the next items).
Mini Flowers

For me, this is probably the most efficient trick to making a peaceful ambience. I was never a big fan of flowers, to be honest. When women got flowers for their birthdays or anniversaries, I always wondered to myself “Why are they so emotional? It’s just flowers, I can go outside and pick some up anytime.” Kind of cold-hearted, right?
Good thing is,
I don’t think like that at all anymore! It’s understandable to keep flowers around, and the gesture of giving them as gifts is adorable. The many colors available make it that easier to match with your decor any time of the year. For winter I’d say green, pink, and orange are the go-to options, they all have this quality of bringing the happiness in.
Plus,
Making these mini flower arrangements can be a therapy to keep away the seasonal sadness as well!
Add Wallpaper

A bold wallpaper can make a huge difference! We’ve already talked about that, but it’s nice to say it again sometimes. Because you know, good ideas deserve to be talked about! The photo above shows a kitchen, and - obviously - we love it!
However,
Wallpapers can make a statement anywhere in your home. Since we’re giving some tips here, I’ll say the entryway is one of my personal favorites.
Find a Colorful Rug

One other thing that has been talked about is how to transform a room with a rug. The idea was that a huge rug can work as a space filler. That way, you won’t add too many furniture pieces and can avoid making the room feel cluttered.
In addition:
The photo shown there was a black rug contrasting with white walls.
Well,
The idea here is basically the same. The only difference is that now you have a colorful rug contrasting with the dark, modern-looking furniture! You can notice just how much the rug lightens the ambience there.
Update Light Fixtures

This idea also requires you to take some time to research and prepare a budget. It’s a change that will ask for lots of:
- Time
- Patience
- Consideration
The final decision is yours to make, though I guarantee you it’ll be worth it!
Colorful Mug

Getting the day started with a hot cup of coffee (or tea, if you’re more into that) can be even better with these gleeful mugs! Can you imagine this routine
- Waking up
- Taking a look at some beautiful flowers on your nightstand
- Brushing your teeth to your new light fixtures in the bathroom
- Going to the kitchen and getting some coffee in these wonderful mugs
- Sitting on the living room couch with your awesome pillows to enjoy the coffee
Doesn’t that sound amazing? It could only get better with some scented candles to make your home even cozier, right? Right! So, check out this last idea…
Scented Candles

Besides being a cool DIY project, these eggshell candles are beautiful! The scented part is optional, but for the purposes of our article, we say: find a scent that fills your soul with love and get crafting!
If the egg shells are not for you, here’s another pretty candle you can DIY at home:

Hey there, we hope you’ve liked these ideas! It can be tough to decide on the best way to decorate your home, but you can always hire a pro to help you out!
