Every mom loves having her day in the spotlight, especially that Sunday for themselves with love coming from every corner. It is just a blessing to the soul! Whether she is a mom of little ones or already a grandma, it’s a special weekend altogether.

Here are five ideas to DIY some gifts that your mom will absolutely love!

Simple napkin

These are not only super easy to make and a great gift for mom, they’re also a perfect way to start thinking about the summer coming up (because, you know, watermelon is the fruit of the season!). All you need to put this together are:

  • Some blank napkins
  • A sponge
  • Scissors
  • Red, green, and black craft paint
  • 1 small paintbrush
  • 2 foam brushes (optional)

Now, the directions state that you should paint the sponge with the foam brushes, but from my experience, you can simply dip the sponge in the paint. You just need to be a bit more careful, (especially if working with kids) to avoid making a mess.

String art

String art is a quite popular Mother’s Day gift around the crafting world and this heart one is simply gorgeous.

However,

What you need to do is be creative and create a really special and personalized design for your mom! What I have to give you as a tip about this is to make it colorful! There’s nothing that spells joy like a colorful string art design, and that’s what this day is all about, don’t you think?

Oven mitt

When I ran into this looking for some ideas, my heart literally skipped a beat. It’s so gorgeous and adorable! As a new mom myself, I have to say I’d simply love one of these from my baby. That’s because I love to cook and experiment with new combinations in the kitchen and I realize not all moms are like this, but if yours (or the mom you’re presenting) is, then this is a great gift idea!

And it’s super easy to make: all you need is an oven mitt, paint, and a sweet message for mom!

Keychains

I mean, who wouldn’t want to carry a piece of love with them everyday? The homemade keychain is great for busy moms (and also forgetful moms); This way they’ll always remember to bring along their keys and will always have that little bit of motivation when facing a rough day away from their children.

To make these, you will need:

  • Fabric scraps
  • Twill tape
  • Key ring
  • Scissors (pinking shears)
  • Buttons, felt, etc. to make it pretty

You can get creative with the shapes and sizes of your keychain according to what you know your mom will like best. However, here are the basic instructions you will need to achieve a beautiful gift.

Glass magnets

These glass magnets almost didn’t make it into my list, but they just kept showing up in my head because they’re super adorable! They’re made with kids fingerprints and you can use them to decorate your fridge (or whatever other surfaces that might have magnets stick to them). They’re not so easy to make as the other crafts here, but they’re still quite simple - check it for yourself!
