First things first: we have to think about the firepit. If you already have one in your backyard, then you can skip this step! If not, you can make your own firepit very quickly and give your backyard a boost. All you’ll need are bricks and cement or non-combustible adhesive. Check out this step-by-step tutorial! If you want something less permanent, you can make a simple roasting station using ethanol gel cans on planters, and place it on the table where the ingredients will be.

S’mores Bar Table

To display the ingredients, you can use any table or cart that you have around the house, but it would be even better if you had a slim bar table to use. If you don’t have something in your garage or shed to use, you can make your own bar table using wood pallets and stone pavers or square concrete. Click here for more details.

Display

You can choose to leave the ingredients on a tray or use glasses or other containers to display them.

There are many ways to display the ingredients, and you can choose the one that works best for you. You can use big glass jars, trays, bowls, mason jars, small buckets, cake stands, etc. You can leave the ingredients already “undressed” on trays or leave the wrappers on while providing a place to dispose of them.

The Best Part

The traditional s’more recipe involves graham crackers, dark chocolate, and marshmallows, and no doubt it is a crowd pleaser. But to make the party even more fun it’s good to provide a creative array of options where the guests would be able to try different combinations and flavors. Along with the basics, you can also offer:

  • Ritz crackers
  • Cookies
  • Pop tarts
  • Assortment of candy bars
  • Peanut butter cups
  • Caramels
  • Sliced strawberries
  • Sliced bananas
  • Bacon
  • Etc.

And for topping choices, you can include some creative options like:

  • Nutella
  • Peanut butter
  • Cinnamon powder
  • Nutmeg
  • Crushed peppermint
  • Candy sprinkles
  • Etc.

You can choose to make a more traditional s’mores selection or a more creative one, depending on what you and your guests want.

Be sure to have all the needed supplies in handy, near the ingredients. That includes skewers, barbecue sticks, toothpicks, plates, tongs, and lots of paper towels, to make the s’mores assembly and eating as easy and mess-free as possible.

Layout

If you’re going to make your s’mores with a firepit, the layout would usually be placing chairs around the firepit and providing some plates so the guests don’t need to get up too often to make more s’mores. If you’re using a roasting station, then you can just place the ingredients around the station.

Decoration and Organization

Don’t forget about the decorations! You can make a few signs, garlands, or even use a chalkboard to display some interesting s’mores combinations. Use matching bowls and utensils and have a place for everything: a glass jar for skewers, a tray for the chocolates, a receptacle for wrappers, etc. This way, everything will be mess-free!
