The Corkboard Cabinet

If you’re like me, always looking for new ways to improve the kitchen and make it more practical, maybe you’ve seen this hack already. Most posts on how to organize small kitchens have the corkboard cabinet idea.

In case you don’t know what I’m talking about, this is how it works:

You can find a cork board sheet (or cork board adhesive paper) that’s about the size of your cabinet door and install it on the inside part of that same door. It’ll work better on top cabinets, since the idea is to make your life easier by hanging cooking utensils, such as recipe measurers. That being said, you can also go for the lower ones as well.

Remember to get some hooks to pin on that board so you can actually hang stuff there! And talking about hang stuff, the next hack:

Hanging Storage

Transforming your backsplash into a storage space has become a quite popular idea. If you’ve never thought about it before, now’s the time! Of course, that’s not the only option. You can also use the side of a cabinet to install storage, or even the back of the kitchen door!

Here are some ideas that add storage to your kitchen:

  • Shower caddies
  • Towel holders
  • Command hooks
  • Floating shelves

Use Risers

Risers can make a big difference in making your cabinets more organized and will help you keep them that way! Which, let’s face it, is the most important part. They blend in so well that they’ll never be an eyesore!

Stack Snacks

The idea of stacking snacks helps you not only stay organized, but it also helps control what your kids can or can’t take without permission. Stack the ones they can actually have freely in a wicker basket (also adding a rustic touch to your kitchen decor), or just using a pretty bowl that fits your kitchen style.

As for those snacks that need to stay out of sight:

Using containers on higher cabinets or shelves will keep certain snacks out of reach of kids so that they need a parent or guardian to get them. It’s not that you’ll be hiding the snacks, it’s just a matter of wanting to surprise your children every now and then, right?

Pantry Turntables

Do you have a big pantry at home? If so, chances are that it gets messy quite easily. I love following foodie youtubers and once in a while they make videos such as ‘what’s in my pantry,’ and when I saw this one I simply fell in love with the turntable ideas as a organizing trick. I mean, what’s not to like about it? They’re so incredibly practical!

A couple of examples for that:

  • They don’t get in the way of other storage options you might have
  • They are easy to clean
  • They make it super easy to see what you need to add (or remove) from your groceries list

And here’s a bonus: pantry turntables can make your pantry look even better since they will help keep it more organized.

Sort Utensils

If you follow the hanging storage trick, this will probably be resolved already, but in case you don’t, the idea is that you sort utensils by their utility. Such as grabers, mixers, and so on. You can make it into an easy DIY project with Mason jars to make organizers for this. Simply paint and label them according to the categories you want and you’ll be all set!

Speaking of labels, that’s exactly what the last idea of the list is about! Check it out:

Labels Everywhere

There’s no doubt that labels make life easier, so why not use them all around the kitchen? Label jars, containers, spices pots, and whatever else there is. Of course, we’re not saying you need to label your cabinets doors to identify what’s behind each door - though that wouldn’t be the worst idea ever (especially if you have a child learning how to read). Labels are a great way to help keep your kitchen organized.
